Brunch on the New Golden Mile: Pancakes, French Toast & a Proper Full Brekkie in Benavista
There’s a particular kind of morning on this stretch of coast — the school run’s done, the sun’s already warm on the A-7, and somewhere between Estepona and San Pedro you want a table outside, a proper coffee, and a plate that means it. That’s the morning we built Julia Gastro House for.
We’re at Las Palmeras de Benavista, just off the A-7 at kilometre 167 — five minutes from El Paraíso and Atalaya, ten from San Pedro, with free parking right outside the door (a sentence worth its weight in gold on this coast). Open every day from 8:30am to 4pm, which means brunch here isn’t a weekend-only event. It’s how the corner runs.
The sweet side of the table
Start with the argument every table has: pancakes or French toast? Ours are the fluffy kind, and the French toast is brioche — both come piled with berries and enough maple to make the decision feel serious. The Full Brekkie lets you dodge the choice entirely: the classic cooked breakfast with pancakes or French toast riding alongside, which is either genius or dangerous depending on your plans for the afternoon.
The savoury side
The Eggs Benedict here is the one people photograph before they eat — golden yolks, silky hollandaise, fresh sourdough. The Smash Avo on sourdough with crispy bacon has quietly become our best-seller, and the smoked salmon plates bring a little of our Swedish side to the morning (more on that another day — the gravlax deserves its own story).
And because brunch runs all the way to lunch here: the House Gastroburger — premium butcher’s beef, crispy bacon, a perfectly fried egg and our signature house sauce. It’s the plate that convinces the “just coffee” person at the table to order food.
Signature coffees, matcha, and the other kind of morning
The coffee is speciality-grade and taken seriously; the matcha has its own following; and the Signature Coffee Menu keeps growing — the Biscoff Iced Coffee joined it this July and hasn’t had a quiet day since. And if the morning calls for something else entirely, an Aperol Spritz on the terrace in the sunshine is a legitimate brunch decision. We’ve saved you a seat either way.
